There were 9,769 used passenger vehicles imported into New Zealand during January. This was down by 3.7 per cent compared to 10,139 in the same month of 2015.
The total was also lower than the final three months of last year – 12,388 crossed the border in October, 12,387 in November and 14,725 in December.
Out of January’s total, 9,910 used cars were imported from Japan. Next up were Australia on 322, the US on 90, Singapore on 76 and the UK on 68.
As for used light commercials, 552 came into New Zealand last month. The total for light and heavy used commercials was 648 with the vast majority – 632 – coming from Japan.
