Fiat’s 124 Spider won’t sport the Fiat badge when it arrives in New Zealand, with Kiwis only getting the high-performance Abarth version.
The marque’s decision not to offer the mainstream version of the Spider is aimed at providing the brand with a clear point of difference from Mazda’s MX-5, on which it is based.
The Spider features a 1.4-litre turbo-charged four cylinder engine, producing 126kW and 250Nm of torque and can reach 0-100kph in 6.8 seconds.
The Abarth 124 Spider will go on sale in New Zealand late this year. Pricing and specifications will be announced on arrival.
